DETAILS:

(Part of the Lifestyle Medicine for Everyone conference)

This experiential lecture includes the science behind mindfulness and mind-body techniques, including how engagement can improve outcomes in whole-body health.

Target Audience: this lecture was created for general audiences who may hold a stigma against mental health and wellness but who could benefit from the mind-body techniques discussed.

Learning Objectives:

Mindfulness practices included in the experiences and examples include 4-7-8 breathing, loving-ki mindful eating, tai chi, mindful movements, and loving-kindness meditation. The benefits of experiencing a Flow State will also be discussed, including how this state can mimic the brain wave patterns seen in meditation. The speaker is also open to touching on the use of psychedelic-assisted therapies as a similar brain wave experience with similar mental health (and potentially physical health) benefits.
